Nice to be appreciated
We got a nice surprise in the mail yesterday. Liisa Rantalaiho, one of the organisers of 2008 Tampere Finncon sent us a copy of Valo, the weekly magazine of Aamulehti, Finland's second largest daily.
Valo had taken 69 summer events all around Finland from rock festivals to agricultural fairs and put them all on a coordinate system where x axis measures how money-grabbing or altruistic the event is and the y axis measures how backward-looking or fresh the event is.
Finncon was listed as the most altruistic and among the top 10 freshest events this summer in Finland. We were also one of the four events given a more detailed introduction with the title "Superstars for Free" and a nice mug shot of superstar Al Reynolds. Finncon is more than chuffed!
